Description

This is an authentic original (printed BEFORE the concert) handbill / flyer that was ONLY given out to attendees at the 1964 Newport Folk Festival.  This flyer gave all the details of the Workshops and Special Concerts that were planned for the festival, many of which featured the bigger stars that were also appearing at the evening shows at the festival including
BOB DYLAN
(performing at the July 24 at the 1:30pm BROADSIDES (Topical Songs) concert along with
Pete Seeger, Johnny Cash, Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, Malvina Reynolds
, and others.  And
JOAN BAEZ
, who performed at the July 24, 10am SINGING STYLES set along with Fred McDowell, Ralph Stanley, Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul & Mary), Rev. Robert Wilkins, and others.

It has also been SIGNED in purple ink by Theodore Bikel, who also appeared at the festival.  Other performers listed include DOC WATSON, Elizabeth Cotton, MUDDY WATERS, CLARENCE WHITE, SLEEPY JOHN ESTES,  GREENBRIAR BOYS, CLANCY BROTHERS,  MISSISSIPPI JOHN HURT, SON HOUSE, DAVE VAN RONK, and many others!!!
I have an original handbill / brochure/ ticket order form and also a program for the festival listed separately.

The festival took place July 23-26, 1964 at Freebody Park in Newport, Rhode Island.
This is an extraordinarily rare item!
It is an 8 1/2 x 12 1/2" inch sheet that was only distributed to attendees at the festival.  It is in VG+ condition, having three horizontal folds from being folded in fourths, some handling creases and a tiny bit of edge wear, and two very small holes. There is a tiny bit of purple mark on the top left corner.  This was given to me by Dave Van Ronk many many years ago when I took guitar lessons from him.
