    Description

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome
    .
You are looking at a very nice older Turner 22X crystal microphone from the 1940's. This heavily deco inspired piece with satin chrome finish makes this one of the most widely recognized "bullet" style microphones ever produced. This mic comes with it's original Turner C-1 model desk stand in which to display.
Pic # 2 is from a 1940's catalog showing Turners line up and some basic specs on these mics.
The 22 series came in several different styles over the years with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 22 microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element.  All 22X's carried the crystal element which did not hold up as well over the past 70 years.
You generally rarely find one that works well or works at all. This one sadly...is one of them. The mic does have the original element inside still. It's still pretty nice cosmetically speaking but this should be used as a nice display piece.
This unit has the early lower half with round front and rear along with black Turner badge. The overall finish is very good with just lite fine scratches and quite a bit of tiny pitting in the finish. The front grill is free of tarnish or dents and the inner black cloth screen is perfect. I would give a this mic a true 7 on a scale of 1 - 10.
The threading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. The joint mechanism has plenty of tension as well holding the head of the mic firmly in place. Solid inside and out this mic was built to last.
MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...
    Microphone stand is
a 1940's era Turner C-1 model desk stand with the satin chrome finish. This was a very modern design for it's time and really compliments the 22X. This model was only manufactured for about 10 years before it was discontinued. The stand thread itself is universal and any mic will technically mate to the top of it.
This particular stand has typical lite wear on both the base. A little heavier wear on the riser as it was probably held quite a bit. Please let the detailed pictures be your guide. All 4 original rubber pads are still present and will keep the stand from scratching any surface it sits on. Mic with stand is appx 11 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide.
This piece is going to draw attention just about anywhere it's displayed.
