Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a unique and rare Brush G2P2S microphone from the 1930's complete with original desk stand. I have only ever seen 3 of these models before and they are quite hard to come by. It should also be noted that I do not know what type of element is used in these and I suspect that it might need phantom power to work but I can only assume.
This mic is a mystery to me because it's an early Brush mic and I have no info on this make and model. The model is stamped on the bottom of the mic where it seats on the 2 pin connection. It states G2P2S and the serial number is # 891. This G2P2S is a painted model as well as I've only seen this in the satin chrome version. The paint is original too and is the same on the stand.
Brush was well known for being a wide distributor of the crystal elements and sold them to many other American mic companies during the 1930's and 40's but again I suspect this to be a different type of element.
You'll see this all metal design is quite unique being very industrial and masculine. It slightly resembles the skyscrapers that were very popular in American pop culture at that time. It's a two piece mic having a detachable upper head with the element and a lower receiver with the wiring and connector that is bolted to the all metal lower stand / base. I'm not sure why Brush chose this design but if the element stopped working you could simply buy another head and slide it into place instead of pulling the element out and having to rewire it. It's a crazy interesting mic for sure.
The mic shows typical lite signs of wear in the painted finish but the front and rear screens are free of any unwanted dents or tarnish. I'd give this mic an honest 7 on a scale of 1 - 10.
The mic is appx 4 inches tall X 1 1/4 inches wide. The mic with stand together is appx 9 inches tall X 6 inches wide X 4 inches deep. The cable is appx 18 inches long and comes with an old male 1/4 inch end connector. The cable is soft, pliable and free of damage.
It should be noted that the mic cannot be screwed onto any desk or floor stand as it was intended to be used only with the original stand shown. The all metal stand makes a very attractive and stable platform for this mic. It has a bold aggressive design that is fairly lite weight and uber rare as I have never seen another and probably won't for several years. Far rarer then the mic itself.
The Brush stand shows just lite wear as well. It has a classic 3 tier "waterfall" design and it appears to be made out of either aluminum or magnesium. It has 4 newer felt pads on the bottom to keep it from scratching any surface it rests on. Comes with an original 2 pin male connection that the mic slides down onto.
Again, super rare and quite beautiful. This will be greatly appreciated by the hardcore collector. Great for use with an 1930's or 40's era movie or t.v show.
